are-you-making-your-most-difficult-students-worse?
http://www.smartclassroommanagement.com/2014/10/25/are-you-making-your-most-difficult-students-worse/
This reading was shared with me from my colleague. It can with a message that it might be good to share with our staff and/or to reflect on as we consider our decision to make all our Year 6 students Frankley School Leaders, to be given a badge at a School Assembly.
On hearing this some teachers were quick to say things like ..
Some show no respect
Aren't we dumbing them down..dumbing down leadership
Some of those kids ride their bikes before school ..
Such a good article. So many next steps for some people and perhaps the impetus for them to do things differently.

Actions/Ideas you could trial:
Ensure when I am involved in interviewing we look deeper at questions. I have been reading about asking better questions...
Dr. Todd Whitaker says, “The best thing a principal can do to build parent relations is to ensure every student has a phenomenal teacher.” To do this, we can start by hiring the right people. Even before this, we must prepare purposeful interview questions that help draw out an applicants’ philosophy, knowledge, and so much more. | ||
What impact has this had on your teaching practice:
Not a lot
